More Press for JRU:
[Roseman] will most definitely make an indelible mark on 21st century jazz." -NILS JACOBSON, ALL ABOUT JAZZ
"Jazz players with great chops and a personal sound are a dime a dozen these days. What Roseman brings to the table is rarer by far: vision. 'Treats for the Nightwalker' is overflowing with it." -KEVIN CONVEY, BOSTON HERALD
"The reviews are all in and the verdict is multiple thumbs up. Josh Roseman Unit is one of the brightest young acts out there today, pushing the boundaries of music in a focused and thoughtful manner." -CORY FERBER, jazzreview.com
"Roseman is one of a handful of cats around today who have managed to make the trombone sexy. What separates him from the rest of the pack is his sense of humor and the blur between childlike innocence and libertine dementia that informs his work.Half the fun for the listener is trying to guess which side is which." -DARRELL MCNEILL, BLACK ROCK COALITION
"Finally, something that touches on the righteous eclecticism of the New York nu-jazz thing: homage to the forefathers and a pimp-strut towards the future. Josh Roseman, trombonist extraordinaire and general purveyor of groove, delivers an album of monstrous ambition and dreamy jazzscapes that traverses a multitude of destinations…Treats for the Nightwalker turns an exciting new page in the annals of progressive jazz flavors." -BRIAN GETZ, JAMBASE
Caribbean cadences, hip-hop beats, and structural savvy add up to well architected dub-funk on the trombonist's new, very impressive Treats for the Nightwalker. Roseman is trying to bring a social attitude to what he knows in his heart is art music." -JIM MACNIE, THE VILLAGE VOICE
Josh's
electric quintet has headlined Willisau, Berliner Jazztage, Zurich Jazz
fest, and other locations across Europe. Their second effort, Treats for the
Nightwalker, explores hip hop, jazz fusion, and future-funk
in an epic studio work that finds the JRU - a sextet in its 2.0 incarnation
- joined with 17 all-star special guests.
